1 March 2018
Connect Hackney is holding a roundtable discussion with national research organisation the Centre for Ageing Better to learn more about volunteering in later life.
Older people give an extraordinary amount of time as unpaid volunteers to a huge range of worthwhile projects and organisations – in Britain there are 6.2 million volunteers aged over 50.
We know from research that volunteering makes people happier and more confident, but now we want to understand more about volunteering in Hackney. How do older residents get involved? What are the different reasons for deciding to become a volunteer? What makes a good volunteering experience?
If you’re a volunteer who lives in Hackney and you are aged over 50, we would like to invite you to join us for an informal discussion where local volunteers can share their different experiences.
Time and date: 10am – 12.30pm ,Tuesday 27 March (lunch provided at 12.30pm)
Venue: Pembury Community Centre, 1 Atkins Square, Dalston Lane E8 1FA
To book a place: We have 12 places available at the event. If you would like to take part, please phone Kim on 020 7923 1962 or email her on firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 9 March.
